Leaked evidence in Kiwimeter trial shows Government link
Executives at TVNZ were reported shoulder tapped by the Government to create Kiwimeter
Yesterday in court, for the high profile case TVNZ v Unnamed, Ms Rismacken for the defendant sought to have newly unearthed evidence admitted. This application was declined by Justice Ranzerson. The reason she gave for her decision was lack of relevance.
This morning this publication received leaked information outlining the nature and content of this inadmissible evidence. We are not in a position to publish details or the identity of the source of the evidence. However we at Murdoch Media Empire believe it is of sufficient public interest to justify publication of the substanceof the revelations.
On the 20th of April, Ms Rizmacken received an email from an anonymous source who described themselves as a colleague of academics who were involved in research that contributed to the creation of the Kiwimeter Survey. The source expressed grave concerns about the current proceeding and advised caution in dealing with TVNZ. She expressed a belief that the defendant and supporters of the defendant were perhaps "in over their heads" and that these issues were more significant and far-reaching than was apparent.
The source suggested that the Government may have had influence in the conception and commissioning of Kiwimeter. They asserted that Kiwimeter was designed to reflect the 'Nationhood Values' framework, which is currently being developed by the Ministry of Culture and Heritage.
The trial is ongoing, with evidence from the defendant due to be heard today.
